The Andrews Valley Initiative (AVI) is a grassroots 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in Andrews, NC, whose mission is to plan for
progress in the Andrews valley while preserving its heritage and protecting its beauty for generations to come. All of our community projects
focus on a "triple bottom line" - sustainable economic development, environmental stewardship and social justice.
AVI came into being in 1987 when local citizens established initiatives that focused on the revitalization of downtown Andrews and the valley
in which the town lies. Over the years, these goals fell by the wayside. In 2003, in response to local citizens' requests, Jerry Pullium and
Lee Nichols formed AVI, a not-for-profit corporation, whose goal was to breathe new life into these original initiatives. Since then, a dedicated
group of volunteers have worked together to bring many enhancements to Andrews.
